Pre-Rodeo Stop Leads Warrensburg Woman to $10,000 Prize

A Warrensburg woman is “riding high in the saddle” after uncovering a $10,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery “$1,000,000 Payout” Scratchers game.  Susan Sivils purchased the ticket at Jerry’s One Stop, 712 S. Maguire St. in Warrensburg, on July 15 and claimed her prize at the Lottery’s Kansas City regional office on July 17.

“I was on my way to a rodeo,” the 47-year-old said of her quick stop for gas and Scratchers tickets. “I was just standing there and this ticket kind of jumped out at me.”

Sivils continued with her plans and headed to the arena, but her evening turned out much differently than she thought it would.

“I scratched it right there on the bleachers at the rodeo,” she said of her winning ticket. “Everyone was like, ‘Oh, my gosh. I can’t believe you did it.’”

Sivils plans to use the prize money to pay bills.

“$1,000,000 Payout” officially started Jan. 10. The $10 ticket offers 20 prizes ranging from $100,000 to $ 1million. In total, more than $18.4 million in prize money remains unclaimed in the game.
